JUNIOR MACK

Guitarist and vocalist, Junior Mack, picked up a guitar and taught himself to play at the age of nine.

His soulful style is rooted in gospel and blues. Among his vocal influences are The Soul Stirrers with Sam Cooke and Paul Foster, The Sensational Nightingales with Reverend Julius Cheeks, and Gregg Allman. Inspiration for his guitar playing developed from artists such as Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Jan Akkerman and Wes Montgomery.

Mack has worked or shared the stage with a list of contemporary blues heavyweights, including The Allman Brothers Band, Derek Trucks, Robert Randolph, Dickey Betts and the late David Honeyboy Edwards.  He is currently a member of the Harlem Blues Project.

Junior Mack was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame on September 25, 2011 as “Great Blues Artist from New York”.
